United show of faith gives lift to returning Fletcher who grabs a space in league squad

There were fears he may never play again but Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher received a tonic on Wednesday when he was named in David Moyes’s 25-man squad for the Premier League season.

The Scotland captain has played just 13 games since being forced to take an extended break from football in 2011 after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.
He was named in the squad submitted to the League but still may not return until at least November and was left out of United’s Champions League squad which was given to UEFA.
