Luis Suarez's first match for Liverpool after his ten-game ban will be a baptism of fire against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Capital One Cup third round.
It will be the second time the bitter rivals will face each other in the space of a month, after the clubs play in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday.
Packed house: The Old Trafford fans will be out in full force as Suarez returns against United
The final game of Suarez’s lengthy suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last season is a Premier League encounter against Southampton on September 21.
That will make him available for a volatile showdown just days later at Old Trafford, where the Uruguayan is sure to receive a frosty reception after his infamous clash with Patrice Evra in October 2011 that led to an eight-game ban for racist abuse.
Elsewhere in the draw, Chelsea travel down the M4 to face League One's Swindon while Manchester City host Wigan in a replay of last season's FA Cup final.
Last season's winners Swansea travel away to Birmingham, who prevailed in the second round despite a controversial goal for Yeovil.
Arsenal travel away to West Brom in an all-Premier League tie, while Leeds face Newcastle at St. James' Park.
